Ergonomics is the science that facilitates
maximum productivity, consistent quality and long-term
worker health and safety.
Of these three goals the most challenging
is the long-term health and safety of the worker. This
aspect of health and safety takes into account a spectrum
of injury and illness prevention goals. Cumulative trauma
and repetitive motion injuries (RMI's) are among the
most challenging.
The new CAL OSHA regulation 5110 under
the authority of California Labor Code Section 6357,
underscores to employers the importance of establishing
and implementing an ergonomic program including worksite
evaluations, the control of ergonomic hazards and employee
training. Excel Ergo can help you achieve these. It's
good sound preventative medicine for workplace injuries.
Excel Ergo utilizes the science of ergonomics
as an injury reduction strategy. As part of our evaluation,
we attempt to arrive at an objective system to measure
ergonomic risk. Our system attempts to be as objective
as possible, while at the same time it is flexible and
considers all job situations.
Our evaluation provides consistent and
easily applied solutions which at the same time are
very practical to implement. Excel Ergo determines ergonomic
needs in specific areas, performs the analyses of those
targeted areas (including risk factors), recommends
various interventions to decrease or eliminate potential
hazardous conditions, researches the interventions and
follows-up with all parties on the implementation of
the recommendations. This can be directly inserted into
your SB198 plan. Excel Ergo also tracks the effectiveness
of those interventions. A comprehensive report is generated
that will contain an assessment of the specific workstation(s),
identification of potentially hazardous conditions and
suggestions for improving the workstation(s).
Excel Ergo also provides training to supervisors
and employees in basic principles of ergonomics. Training
would involve employee work methods, cumulative trauma,
basics of prevention including movement, exercise, task
variety and arranging ones work area.
Excel Ergo works with both small and large
employers. We can evaluate one workstation or provide
an assessment of an employers entire facility. We will
also assist employers develop and implement ergonomic
programs.
